Davenport House Museum

Old Fort Jackson

Fort Jackson, the oldest standing fort in Georgia, has played a key role in the defense of Savannah since the 1700s. Now one of Savannah's most popular tourist attractions, managed by the Coastal Heritage Society, visitors have the opportunity to tour the fort and to view military paraphernalia from the CSS Georgia that sank in the Savannah river long ago.

Green-Meldrim House

Built in the 1850s, the Green-Meldrim House is best known for the fact that it served as General William Tecumseh Sherman's headquarters towards the end of the Civil War. The house remains a great example of Gothic Revival architecture. It is open to the public for touring Tuesdays, as well as Thursday through Saturday.

Hampton Lillibridge House

Owens-Thomas House and Telfair Museum of Art

The Owens-Thomas house, a Regency style home, was built between the years of 1816 and 1819. The house has had a layered past; it served as a boarding house during the 1820s, in 1825 Marquis de Lafayette was a guest, and today it is home to the Telfair Museum of Art. The museum includes an impressive collection of paintings, phtographs, sculptures and decorative arts.
